Morning Sickness

Can anything be done to alleviate morning sickness? We are asked this question regularly, so I wanted to cover it here on our blog. I know from experience with my first baby, that it can be miserable, so I feel for you women suffering from it! I hope some of this information will be helpful to you!

There are several causes of morning sickness so unfortunately there is not a cure-all. But the good thing is that most of the causes can be dealt with fairly easily. Here is a list of some of the most common and the remedies we recommend:

1) Some kind of Nutrient Deficiency. Your body needs so many nutrients to keep itself functioning in perfect order and to build a new organ and a whole functioning life. Often it comes up short on something and can cause you to feel poorly in a number of ways including morning sickness. We recommend a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans, and whole grains and that all pregnant woman drink Motherhood Tea which is rich in vitamins and every mineral known to man as well as many phytonutrients you need for flourishing health through pregnancy.

2) Too much bile. This is the cause for so many women. When pregnant we have elevated levels of hCG to maintain the pregnancy, which is a very important thing! The trouble comes as the liver processes the hCG hormone into bile. There can be a large influx of this bile into the system, and it causes nausea. Some bile is eliminated but when there are large amounts, much of it will be recycled back into the liver and continue through the system, this time carrying toxins it picked up on the way which makes us feel even more sick. Eating fatty foods makes the problem worse because those are processed into bile also. The good news is that the solution is very simple. Soluble fiber binds with the bile and is eliminated, thereby ending the cause of nausea. The best source of soluble fiber is legumes (black beans, pinto pins, garbanzo beans, etc). Every time you feel sick eat a 1/4 cup of beans. In the beginning this may be quite frequently. But each time you eat them you are cleaning the system out and soon you will be able to eat them once or twice a day and have a glorious nausea free pregnancy! This has been effective even for women who have previously been hospitalized for nausea.

3) Dehydration - Nausea can by a symptom of fetal dehydration. We recommend pregnant woman try to drink up to 1 gallon of water daily. Something that drastically helps us to drink healthful quantities of water is to drink distilled water. This is pure H2O. All the chemicals and inorganic minerals have been removed so it is light and easy to drink. As an added benefit, it will also clean your body of inorganic mineral deposits which cause joint pain and other difficulties.

4)Digestive challenges - You may be low on hydrochloric acid which will cause you to be unable to digest minerals, proteins, and even B-vitamins and other vitamins. This will cause your blood glucose to be unstable and cause nausea. The simple remedy is to take a tablespoon of raw apple cidar vinegar after your meals which will allow your body to digest and absorb those nutrients well.

We hope some of this information and ideas are helpful to you! Remember that sweet little one will be here soon and it will all be worth it!
